Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Illustration 1 g01933139Note: The seal must be installed with the lip toward the bearings. Do not lubricate the lip of the seal.
Use Tooling (C) to install lip seal (12) in the housing. Install lip seal (12) to the bottom of the seal counterbore.

Use a suitable press to install shaft (4) in bearing (11).
Install shaft (4) and bearing (11) in the housing.
Use Tooling (B) to install retaining ring (10).

Install bearing (9) on gear (8).

Place the gear in position on the shaft and install bolt (6).
Install O-ring seal (7) on the housing.

Clean water is the only lubricant that is permitted for assembly. DO NOT damage or touch the wear surfaces of the carbon ring or the ceramic ring. Install the ceramic ring with the smoothest face of the ring toward the carbon seal.
Use Tooling (E) in order to install seal assembly (5) on shaft (4).

Use a suitable press to install impeller (3) on shaft (4).

Measure Dimension (X) between the impeller and the housing. Dimension (X) is 0.800 0.314 mm (0.0315 0.0124 inch).

Install a new gasket and cover (1) on housing (2). End By:
Install the water pump.
