Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Ensure that the dowels on each end of the rocker shaft assembly are in alignment with the holes in the cylinder head.
Install pushrods (2).
Put rocker shaft (1) in position on the cylinder head.
Apply Tooling (A) on the threads of the bolts that hold the rocker shaft in position.
Install the six bolts and the washers that hold the rocker shaft in position.
Use the following procedure to tighten the bolts.

Tighten bolts 3 through 8 in the numerical sequence to a torque of 155 N m (115 lb ft).
Tighten bolts 3 through 8 in the numerical sequence to a torque of 250 17 N m (185 13 lb ft).
Perform Step 5.b in order to ensure that the bolts are tightened to the correct torque.
Adjust the valves in order to have a clearance of 0.038 mm (0.0015 inch) for intake and 0.76 mm (0.030 inch) for exhaust. Tighten the locknut on the valve adjustment screw to a torque of 26 7 N m (20 5 lb ft). End By:
Install the valve cover. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Valve Cover - Remove and Install".
