Install shims (14) that are of a thickness that is within 0.000 to 0.050 mm (0.0000 to 0.0020 inch) of the measurement that was determined in Step 7.

Install plate (13). Apply Tooling (J) onto bolts (12). Install bolts (12). Tighten bolts (12) to a torque of 135 15 N m (100 11 lb ft).
Repeat Step 7 through Step 9 for the remaining gears.

Apply Tooling (P) onto thrust disc (11). Install thrust disc (11).
Use a suitable lifting device in order to install planetary carrier (10). The weight of planetary carrier (10) is approximately 272 kg (600 lb).

Use Tooling (B) in order to Install bearing (9) into gear (8). Remove Tooling (B).Note: The rollers and the race of bearing (9) are matched sets. Do not mix the parts during the assembly procedure.
Repeat Step 13 for the remaining gears (8) and bearings (9).

Use Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device in order to position carrier assembly (1) Into a suitable press. The weight of carrier assembly (1) is approximately 476 kg (1049 lb).

Install Tooling (B) onto gear (8) and bearing (9).
Install gear (8) and bearing (9) into carrier assembly (1). Remove Tooling (B). Align gear (8) and bearing (9) with the bore that is in carrier assembly (1).

Rotate gear (8) while shaft (7) is pressed into carrier assembly (1).Note: Support carrier assembly (1) in the locations that are indicated prior to the installation of shaft (7). Failure to support carrier assembly (1) can result in damage to carrier assembly (1).

Use Tooling (N) in order to measure the distance from the top of planetary carrier (1) to the top of shaft (7).
