1. Remove nuts and bolts (1) that fasten two steering cylinders (2) to steering pivot assembly (3). 2. Remove nuts and bolts (4) that hold the upper and lower pivot pins in place. 3. Install a suitable floor jack under steering pivot assembly (3) as shown. Fasten the steering pivot assembly to the floor jack. 4. Remove the grease fittings from pivot pins (5). Use a hammer and brass punch to remove pivot pins (5) from the bores in the rear frame and steering pivot assembly.5. Remove the steering pivot assembly and shims (6) from the rear frame. The weight of the steering pivot assembly is 114 kg (250 lb).6. Make note of the amount and location of shims (6) used for the upper and lower pivot pins. 7. If necessary, remove bearings (7) and bearing race (8) from steering pivot assembly (3). To determine the correct amount of shims (6) used with the upper and lower pivot pins, see the topic "Clearance Checks" in the CB-434B Vibratory Compactor Steering System, Specifications, Systems Operation, Testing & Adjusting, Form No. KENR2659. For the installation of the steering pivot, reverse the removal steps.
