Information:

or before any hazardous voltage connectors are disconnected. Refer to the Troubleshooting, "Electrical Maintenance Guidelines" section of this manual. Perform the "Safe Shutdown Procedure for Electric Drive Tractors" procedure before any of the hazardous voltage areas are opened or before hazardous voltage connectors are disconnected.Note: The following test procedure may create other diagnostic codes. Ignore these created diagnostic codes and clear the diagnostic codes when the problem has been corrected.Test Step 1. CHECK THE SENSOR POWER SUPPLY CIRCUIT
Turn the disconnect switch and the key switch to the ON position. DO NOT START THE ENGINE.
At the machine harness side of the steering control connector on the Speed / Direction Handle, insert 7X-1710 Multimeter Probes along the power supply contact 12 (wire 799-WH) and along the return contact 11 (wire J750-YL). Do not disconnect the machine harness connector from the steering control handle.
Measure the DC voltage.Expected Result:The voltage measurement is between 9.0 VDC and 11.0 VDC.Results:
OK - The voltage measurement is between 9.0 VDC and 11.0 VDC. The power and ground circuits for the sensor are correct. Proceed to Test Step 2.
NOT OK - The voltage measurement is less than 9.0 VDC. The power supply for the sensor is not correct. Repair: Refer to the complete machine Electrical System Schematic. Examine all of the connectors that are in the power and ground circuits. Ensure that the connections are clean, secure and in good condition. For troubleshooting the ECM power supply that is providing power to the sensor, refer to the CID 1482 diagnostic code procedures in the troubleshooting section of this manual.Once the power supply problem has been corrected, verify that the CID 1473 FMI 03 diagnostic code is no longer active.STOPTest Step 2. CHECK FOR AN OPEN IN THE SENSOR CIRCUIT
Turn the key switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the steering control connector from the Speed / Direction Handle. At the harness connector, place a jumper wire between the return contact 11 (wire J750-YL) and the signal contact 12 (wire 799-WH).
Disconnect machine harness connectors J1 and J2 from the Machine ECM.
At the harness connectors for the Machine ECM, measure the resistance from the return contact J1-56 (wire J750-YL) to the signal contact J2-26 (wire 829-GN).
While observing the resistance measurement, wiggle the ECM connector and the sensor connector. Gently pull on the wires and move the wires around for both connectors. Do not disconnect the jumper wire.Expected Result:The resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms at all times during the manipulation of the wiring harness and connectors. Results:
OK - The resistance measurement is less than 5 ohms. The resistance measurement is indicating that the sensor signal circuit is not open in the machine harness. Proceed to Test Step 3.
NOT OK - The resistance measurement is greater than 5 ohms. There is an open or a bad connection in the sensor signal circuit.Repair: A resistance measurement that is greater than 5 ohms but less than 5000 ohms could indicate that one of the connection points or possibly a splice connection
