Information:
Check all the O-ring seals and the components of the rear accessory drive for wear or damage. Replace the components of the rear accessory drive as necessary.
Lubricate the O-ring seals with clean engine oil prior to installation.
Verify that all the components of the rear accessory drive are clean and free of foreign material prior to installation.

Use Tooling (B) to install sleeve bearing (27) into cage assembly (26). Install sleeve bearing (27).
Install thrust washer (28) and the bearing dowels.
Illustration 2 g06213080Note: Identify oil passage on the cage assembly and corresponding oil passage in the housing. Mark both pieces so that they can be aligned properly.
Position cage assembly (26) into the housing.
Lubricate both sides of sealing washers (23) with clean engine oil. Install sealing washers (23), washers (24), and bolts (25). Hand tightened bolts (25). Back off bolts (25) approximately 1 full turn.

Position gear (22) inside the flywheel housing.
Install shaft (21) and bolts (20). Install Tooling (E) over the studs and one of bolt (20) as shown in Illustration 4, so that gear (22) will not spin while tightening. Tighten bolts (20) to a torque of 300 40 N m (221 30 lb ft).

Install the seal, cover (18), and bolts (19).

Use Tooling (B) and a suitable press to install sleeve bearing (17) into adapter (11). Install sleeve bearing (17).

Install wear sleeve (14).Note: A new lip seal must be installed using Tooling (D). Use the plastic sleeve to prevent the inversion of the lip seal.
Lubricate the seal run surface lightly with the fluid that is being sealed. Install new lip seal (15) into adapter (11).
Lubricate the bore of O-ring seal (12) lightly with the lubricant that is being sealed. Install O-ring seal (12), thrust washer (13), and the bearing dowels.
Install adapter (11) onto the shaft. Install plate assembly (9). Install the washers and nuts (10).Note: Make sure that the components are fully seated before proceeding to next step.
Tighten nuts (10) to a torque of 65 10 N.m (48 7 lb ft).
Install dirt seal (16) into adapter (11).
Check and record shaft end play and make sure that the end play is 0.15 to 0.77 mm (0.006 to 0.030 inch).

Tighten bolts (25) to a torque of 100 20 N m (74 15 lb ft).

Use Tooling (A) to install bearing (8) into gear (7). Install bearing (8).
Install gear (7) into flywheel housing (1).

Lubricate the bore of the O-ring seal lightly with the fluid that is being sealed. Install the O-ring seal on idler shaft (5). Install idler shaft (5) into the gear in flywheel housing (1).
Install bolts (7). Tighten bolts (7) to a torque of 100 20 N m (74 15 lb ft).
Lubricate bottom of the bolt head and the threads of bolts (6) with clean engine oil. Install bolts (6) and tighten to a torque of 570 80 N.m (420 59 lb ft).Note: Mating surface of bolt (3) must be free of grease.
