Start By:
Connect steering frame lock. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , "Steering Frame Lock - Seperate and Connect".
Release the hydraulic system pressure. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly , " Hydraulic System Pressure - Release". Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the disassembly procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.Note: Put identification marks on all lines, on all hoses, on all harness assemblies, and on all tubes for installation purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes. This helps to prevent fluid loss and this helps to keep contaminants from entering the system.
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.

Use two people in order to remove hand rail assembly (1). The weight of hand rail assembly (1) is approximately 31 kg (70 lb). Remove bolt (2). Disconnect harness assembly (3). Remove bolts (4). Remove hand rail assembly (1). Repeat for opposite side.

Disconnect hose assemblies (5). Remove bolts (6).

Attach Tooling (A) and a suitable lifting device to cover assembly (7). The weight of cover assembly (7) is approximately 117 kg (260 lb). Remove cover assembly (7).

Disconnect hose assemblies (8). Remove bolts (9). Remove the selector and press control valve (10). Installation Procedure

Wiping cloths or rags should not be used to dry parts. Lint may be deposited on the parts which may cause later trouble. Inspect all parts. If any parts are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Position the selector and press control valve (10). Install bolts (9). Connect hose assemblies (8).
