(1) Rubber toric seals and all surfaces that contact the toric seals must be clean and dry when the parts are assembled. Apply a thin coat of oil on the contact surfaces of the metal seals prior to installing the metal seals. The metal seals must be assembled square with the bore. The rubber toric seals must not bulge and the rubber toric seals must not be twisted. Apply lubricant to all other seals during the assembly. (2) Torque the 12 bolts to 33 7 N m (24 5 lb ft), and then torque an additional 60 5 degrees. (3) Torque the 12 bolts to 33 7 N m (24 5 lb ft), and then torque an additional 60 5 degrees. (4) Lubricate the bearing, the shaft, and the bore with the lubricant which is being sealed. (6) Torque the 13 bolts in the cover to 145 30 N m (105 20 lb ft), and then torque an additional 60 5 degrees. (7) Torque the 20 bolts that connect the retainer to the spindle to 460 70 N m (340 50 lb ft), and then torque an additional 120 10 degrees.Note: Do not reuse torque turned bolts.Procedure to torque the 51 bolts (5)
Torque seven equally spaced bolts in an alternating sequence to 900 N m (660 lb ft).
Torque the remaining bolts in an alternating sequence to 900 150 N m (660 100 lb ft).
Torque each bolt by an additional 120 10 degrees in an alternating sequence.
The minimal acceptable torque for the bolts is 2000 N m (1480 lb ft).Note: Do not reuse torque turned bolts.For specifications on the brake system, refer to Specifications, UENR0758, "994H Wheel Loader Braking System".
