Leveling the Trailing Edge of the Extender Plate

Adjust the inside adjusters and adjust the outermost adjusters until there is a 9.525 mm (0.3750 inch) gap between the screed plate spacer bar and the welded nuts on the bottom of the extender frames. Torque the two adjuster nuts to 105 N m (77 lb ft).Note: When you have adjusted the two adjusters to a 9.525 mm (0.3750 inch) gap, do not readjust the adjusters. All remaining adjustments must be made with the remaining adjusters.

Place a straightedge or place a stringline on the trailing edge of the screed. Check the flatness of the screed plate by measuring the gap between the screed plate and the measuring device.
If the trailing edge is not within 0.762 mm (0.0300 inch) of being flat, loosen the remaining nuts and use the screed plate leveling adjusters in order to bring the screed plates in tolerance. One full turn of the hex nut will result in 2.1080 mm (0.0830 inch) of vertical motion. Torque the adjuster nuts to 105 N m (77 lb ft).

Determine if the nose plate leading edge and the screed plate leading edge elevation is parallel relative to the extension tubes.
This step determines whether the extender rises when the extender is moved inward.
This step determines whether the extender falls when the extender is moved inward.
This step determines whether the extender raises when the extender is moved outward.
This step determines whether the extender falls when the extender is moved outward.
Two methods can be used.
One method utilizes a magnetic dial indicator that is mounted to the main screed plate. The dial indicator is positioned 89 mm (3.5 inch) from the outside edge. The dial indicator is used to measure any deviation between the height of the front of the extender screed plate and the main screed. Measure any deviation when the extender is moved from the full in position to the full out position. The total indicator reading should be less than 1.5 mm (0.060 inch). If the difference between the extender nose bar and the main screed plate is greater than1.5 mm (0.060 inch), you might need to add shims to the extender nose bar and the extender screed plate.
