Removal Procedure
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Caterpillar Tools and Shop Products Guide" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Caterpillar products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
At operating temperature, the hydraulic tank is hot and under pressure.Hot oil and components can cause personal injury. Do not allow hot oil or components to contact skin.Remove the filler cap only when the engine is stopped, and the filler cap is cool enough to touch with your bare hand. Remove the filler cap slowly in order to relieve pressure.
Note: Mark all lines, hoses, wires, and tubes for identification purposes. Plug all lines, hoses, and tubes in order to prevent foreign material from entering the system.Note: Drain all the fluids into a suitable container for storage or for disposal.

Remove the following components from the quick-drop valve: bolts (1), the washers and cover (2) .

Remove hose assemblies (3) from quick-drop valve (4) .

Remove tube assemblies (5) from the bottom of the quick-drop valve.

Remove bolts (6) and the washers that hold the quick-drop valve to the radiator. Remove the quick-drop valve.
