Automatic Battery Charger
The following type of battery charger is provided:
20AThe 20-amp charger is 24 VDC only. This charger is fully automatic float type and is fully fuse protected (input and output). It has automatic current limiting to reduce risk of overcharging, and has automatic maintenance of charge voltage. Therefore, it can be connected to the batteries continuously. The charger requires the connection of a charged battery to turn on. The battery provides boost voltage for the charger, so a dead battery will not allow the charger to operate. The boost required is approximately 18 to 22 volts for the 24 VDC system. Replace the battery if it is below the boost voltage.Engine Coolant Heater (If Equipped)
Heats the engine coolant when the unit is not operating. This action keeps the engine warm even in cold weather, helping to ensure quicker starts. Powered by a circuit normally fed by the utility power supply.Engine Oil Sump heater (If Equipped)
Keeps the oil in the sump heated to allow easier starting and faster engine warmup. Powered by a circuit normally fed by the utility power supply.Battery Warmer (If Equipped)
Keeps the battery warm so it can provide full cranking current when starting in cold conditions. Powered by a circuit normally fed by the utility power supply.Event Response Procedures
The generator is protected by factory set warnings and shutdowns. The warnings and shutdowns alert the owner/operator of a fault condition that requires attention and action to keep the generator operating in an efficient and safe running order.Handling Events
The EMCP 4.2B has 3 types of events:Warning Events - Creates a warning event in the event log and lights the amber LED. The engine will not shut down. A warning event will reset by itself (that is, it will go from the "Present" state to the "Inactive" state) when the condition that caused it goes away.Soft Shutdown Events - Creates a Shutdown event in the event log, lights the red LED, and shuts down the engine after the cool down period has expired.Hard Shutdown Events - Creates a Shutdown event in the event log, shuts down the engine immediately, and lights the red LEDThe EMCP 4.2B shows previous and current events from both the EMCP and external modules. These events are organized into logs for each physical module the EMCP 4.2B is receiving EVENT messages from. The logs include:
Genset Control - Events for the EMCP 4.2B GSC
Engine Control - Events for a primary CAN Data Link - compatible engine ECM
Digital AVR - Events for the Cat Digital Voltage Regulator (CDVR)
External I/O - Events for the Discrete Input/output (DIO) moduleThe genset control Log stores events generated by the EMCP 4.2B. Any other event is stored within the module that generated the event. Even if the EMCP annunciates an event, it does not mean that the EMCP logs that event. It may be within another module log. Each log is visible only if the module is connected to the appropriate data link, either the Primary data link or the Accessory data link, and is
