Measure the voltage on the breakout T between the input terminal for the suspect switch and terminal 61 for the −Battery.Expected Result:The measured voltage is less than 0.9 VDC.Results:
OK - The voltage is less than 0.9 VDC. The ECM is not reading the input for the suspect switch.Repair: Perform the following procedure.
Temporarily connect a test ECM.
Cycle the suspect switch and monitor the switch status on the electronic service tool.
If the problem is resolved with the test ECM, then reconnect the suspect ECM.
If the problem returns with the suspect ECM, then replace the ECM.Refer to electronic troubleshooting Troubleshooting, "Replacing the ECM" for additional information.STOP
Not OK - The voltage is incorrect. An intermittent condition exists. Repeat the Test Steps and carefully observe the connectors.Repair: The switch is operating correctly at this time. There may be an intermittent problem with the harness and/or the connector. There may also be an intermittent problem with the ground connections and/or the battery bus bar. If an intermittent problem is suspected, refer to diagnostic functional tests Troubleshooting, "Electrical Connectors - Inspect".STOP
