Test Step 1. CHECK THE HARNESS FOR A SHORT TO GROUND
Turn the key start switch and the disconnect switch to the OFF position.
Disconnect the machine harness connector from the instrument cluster.
Disconnect the machine harness from the action alarm.
At the machine harness connector for the instrument cluster, measure the resistance from the connector Contact 23 (wire H414-YL(Yellow)) to all possible sources of ground. Expected Result:The resistance should be greater than 5000 ohms for each measurement. Results:
OK - The resistance is greater than 5000 ohms for each measurement. The machine harness is correct. The alarm has failed.Repair: Replace the alarm.STOP
NOT OK - The resistance is NOT correct. There is a short in the machine harness. The short is between signal contact 23 (wire H414-YL(Yellow)) and the circuit with the low resistance measurement.Repair: Repair or replace the harness.STOP
