start by:a) remove wheels1. Remove the bearing cone and spacer from the axle housing. Remove the Duo-Cone seal. Remove the retainer and O-ring seal from the axle housing. The above parts are removed to prevent possible damage to them during removal of the brake shoes. 2. Remove brake shield (1) from the axle housing. 3. Hold lower brake shoe (3) in place. Use tool (A) to remove springs (2). 4. Remove springs (7), retainers (4) and felt washers.5. Remove the lockwire and loosen bolts (6).6. Remove pins (5) and use two men to remove the brake shoes. Weight of each brake shoe is 70 lb. (32 kg).Install Brake Shoes
1. Put brake shoe (1) in position on the axle housing. Install pin (2) with the flat surface on the pin in alignment with bolt (3). Tighten bolt (3).2. Do Step 1 for brake shoe (4). Install the lockwire on bolts (3). 3. Install brake return springs (5) with tool (A). 4. Install brake shield (6) on the axle housing.5. Put lubricant that is to be sealed on the axle housing. Install the retainer and the O-ring seal on the axle housing. Make sure the pins in the retainer are in alignment with the holes in the axle housing.6. Install the spacer on the axle housing with the chamfer in. Install the bearing cone. The rubber seals and all surfaces that make contact with the seals must be clean and dry. After installation of the seals, put oil on the contact surfaces of the metal seals.7. Install the Duo-Cone seal in the retainer with tool (B).end by:a) install wheels
