(1) Air shutoffThe engine is equipped with air shutoffs that are located in the air inlet lines between the turbochargers and the aftercooler. The air shutoffs are actuated by electric solenoids. An air shutoff uses a plate that rotates on a shaft in order to shut off the inlet air to the aftercooler. The engine stops because of the restricted air supply to the combustion chamber. The air shutoff only actuates when the Emergency Stop Push Button or the Overspeed Shutdown is actuated.Note: If the engine is equipped with Air Shutoff then the "Configuration Parameter" for "Air Shutoff" must be programmed "ON".
