723Plus Digital Control
The 723Plus Digital Control provides precise control of the engine speed. The control constantly measures the engine speed. The control sends an electronic signal to the governor actuator in order to adjust the fuel setting.The governor settings and the positions of the governor controls determine the load (kW) which is carried by the generator. If the governor control setting is advanced, the engine and the generator will assume more load. Likewise, decreasing the governor control setting will result in a reduction of the load.

Governor Actuator
The EGB13P Governor Actuator is both an electronic actuator and a mechanical governor.The actuator converts the electrical signal from the digital control into mechanical motion. The actuator linkage to the fuel injection system regulates the fuel to the engine. During normal operation, the actuator shaft assumes a position that is in proportion to the magnitude of the signal from the digital control. The magnitude of the signal is determined by the position that is required for the fuel rack in order to maintain the desired engine rpm under varying conditions of the load.The mechanical governor controls the engine speed during start-up. In case the electronic control fails in a manner that calls for maximum fuel, the mechanical governor also functions as a backup in order to prevent an overspeed.For detailed information about the 723Plus Digital Control and the EGB13P Governor Actuator, see the literature in the engine's Service Manual.
