(23) Proportional solenoid valve (idler pump) During machine operation, the machine ECU sends a signal to the proportional solenoid valves (22) and (23) for negative flow control. Negative flow control pressure in the center bypass passage is blocked when the control valve spools shift. The machine's ECU parameters control the flow and pressure of the pumps. The machine ECU regulates the negative flow control pressure that will be supplied to the pump regulator. The negative flow control pressure forces the swashplate in the pump to the correct angle to limit the flow and pressure from the pumps.Fine Control Operation

(P) Pilot pressure When the joystick for the boom is in the NEUTRAL position, spool (25) and spool (27) are in the NEUTRAL position. The oil delivery from the drive pump flows through center bypass passage (13) to negative flow control orifice (4). The oil delivery from the idler pump flows through center bypass passage (16) to negative flow control orifice (5). When the joystick for the boom is partially moved from the NEUTRAL position in order to perform a fine control operation, pilot pressure (P) enters the control valves at the pilot ports. Pilot pressure shifts spool (25) and spool (27) slightly to the left. The movement of spools (25) and (27) partially opens to passage (26). Center bypass passage (13) and center bypass passage (16) are partially blocked.Note: Only oil flow through spool (25) from the drive pump will be explained. The oil delivery from the idler pump through spool (27) works in the same manner.The oil delivery from the drive pump is now divided into two flow paths. A portion of the oil delivery from the drive pump flows through center bypass passage (13) to negative flow control orifice (4). The remainder of the oil delivery from the drive pump flows through parallel feeder passage (15) and passage (26) to port (24). The oil flow from center bypass passage (13) to negative flow control orifice (4) decreases. The flow resistance through the negative flow control orifice decreases and the negative flow control pressure (PN) in passage (3) decreases. The negative flow control pressure that is sent to the regulator at the drive pump decreases. The pump regulator causes the swashplate
