Information:
1. Remove four bolts (2) that secure two elbows (1) to the cylinder heads. Some of the bolts (2) are too long to be removed completely, ensure they will not bind on the cylinder head during removal of the rear exhaust manifold.2. Remove the two gaskets from two elbows (1). 3. Remove eight bolts, washers and nuts (3).4. Remove two elbows (4) and the gaskets. 5. Remove six bolts, washers and nuts (7) securing rear exhaust manifold (5) to both water cooled exhaust manifolds.6. Attach lifting slings and a suitable lifting device to the rear exhaust manifold.7. Remove four nuts (6).8. Remove rear exhaust manifold (5) and the gaskets.Install Exhaust Manifold (rear)
FLUID SPILLAGE CONTAINMENT Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting and repair of the machine. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids. Refer to "TOOLS AND SHOP PRODUCT GUIDE, NENG2500", for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids in Caterpillar machines. Dispose fluids according to local regulations and mandates. Check all the gaskets for damage or wear prior to assembly. If any gasket is damaged or worn, replace with a new gasket. 1. Install rear exhaust manifold (5) and the gaskets.2. Apply 4C-5598 Anti-Seize Compound to four nuts prior to installation. Install four nuts (6).3. Install six bolts and nuts (7). 4. Install two elbows (4).5. Install eight bolts, washers and nuts (3) securing two elbows (4) to the exhaust manifold. 6. Install the gaskets between two elbows (1) and the cylinder heads.7.
