Note: Proceed to step 21, if the drum assembly is removed completely or partially removed from the machine.
Move the machine to a smooth level surface.
Place the propel control lever in neutral and apply the parking brake.
Stop the engine.

Use a suitable lifting device to place the machine on stands (1). The drums must be suspended slightly above the ground. The minimum clearance between the bottom of the drum and the ground should be 25 mm (1 inch).

Attach a dial indicator to the machine (2). The dial indicator should contact the drum about 1 inch from the edge of the drum.Note: Inspect the edge of the drum for damage. If damage is present, place the dial indicator closer to the center of the drum away from the damage.
Clean the dirt from the drum surface.
Position the dial indicator against the drum. The dial indicator must be perpendicular to the surface of the drum.
Set the dial indicator to zero.
The dial indicator must be set up in order to allow enough travel in both positive direction and the negative direction.
Start the engine.
Release the parking brake.
Move the propel control lever until the drum begins to rotate slowly.
As the drum rotates, record the highest reading and mark this area of the drum. Continue to rotate the drum in order to obtain the lowest reading and mark this area of the drum. Record these readings.
Maximum allowable runout is 6.0 mm (0.24 inch). If the total runout exceeds this limit, proceed with step 15. If the total runout does not exceed this limit, proceed to step 19.
Rotate the drum in order to locate the point of the highest indicator reading. Place that point at the 12 o'clock position on the drum.
