Personal injury can result from contact with refrigerant.Contact with refrigerant can cause frost bite. Keep face and hands away to help prevent injury.Protective goggles must always be worn when refrigerant lines are opened, even if the gauges indicate the system is empty of refrigerant.Always use precaution when a fitting is removed. Slowly loosen the fitting. If the system is still under pressure, release it slowly in a well ventilated area.Personal injury or death can result from inhaling refrigerant through a lit cigarette.Inhaling air conditioner refrigerant gas through a lit cigarette or other smoking method or inhaling fumes released from a flame contacting air conditioner refrigerant gas, can cause bodily harm or death.Do not smoke when servicing air conditioners or wherever refrigerant gas may be present.Use a certified recovery and recycling cart to properly remove the refrigerant from the air conditioning system.
Illustration 1 g00528580The in-line dryer is located above the diesel engine. The in-line dryer contains the orifice tube and the desiccant that dries the liquid refrigerant.
Illustration 2 g00528594The moisture indicator is located on the in-line dryer. The indicator should be checked at the end of each shift. If the color is blue, the system is dry. If the color is pink, the system contains moisture. The dryer must be changed.Note: The dryer should be changed once per year even though the indicator remains blue.

Stop the engine. Allow the air conditioning system to remain inactive for five minutes in order to equalize the pressure.
Disconnect the "INLET" hose (3) from the old dryer.
Connect the "INLET" hose (3) to the new dryer.
Add 30 mL (1 ounce) of refrigerant oil to the system. Note: If you install a new air conditioner compressor, do not add 30 mL (1 ounce) of refrigerant oil to the system.
Start the engine and operate the air conditioning system for one minute in order to evacuate the refrigerant from the used dryer.
With the air conditioning system in operation, disconnect the "OUTLET" hose (1) from the old dryer.
Stop the engine. The air conditioning system must be idle for five minutes in order to equalize the pressure.
Connect the "OUTLET" hose (1) that was disconnected in Step 6 to the coupler on the new dryer.
