GPS Base Station
The CAESbasic system is an RTK rover configuration. The system requires a GPS base station somewhere near the project.A GPS base station consists of the following components.
GPS receiver
GPS antenna
Data radio
Cables
Power supplyThere may also be a tripod or mast for the GPS antenna and the radio, depending on the particular mine. For a mine where work can continue for a long time, use a permanent location such as the roof of the mine office. A reliable power supply is needed.Make sure that the base GPS antenna is clear of obstructions, reflected GPS signals (multipath), and sources of electro-magnetic interference such as power lines. The base station's data radio must be elevated several meters off the ground in order to provide optimum coverage. The GPS base station requires a starting location. For best results set up the base GPS receiver on a surveyed point. In order to establish this survey point, use a site calibration kit or a professional surveyor experienced with GPS equipment. You must correctly set the GPS antenna type at your base station when using MS Series version 1.4 and greater firmware. If you do not, the GPS position is degraded. Refer to Service Manual, RENR7894 for more information.GPS on the Machine
To position the center of the blade for the machine, the CAESbasic system uses the following components.
A GPS receiver
A GPS antenna
A data radio
Cables and bracketsThe MS840 GPS receiver is normally mounted out of sight and away from the operator where the receiver does not block movement. The GPS antenna is mounted on the cab of the machine. The data radio antenna is mounted in any convenient location near the highest point on the machine. Do not mount the radio too close to the GPS antenna.Display Components on the Machine
In order to display the information that is obtained from the GPS receiver, the following components are required.
An onboard display (CD550 display) with a data card
Cables and bracketsThe CD550 display is mounted inside the cab close to the operator and within easy reach.Note: For security, you can remove the CD550 display from the machine each night. The display has a quick-release bracket. All the system components are connected together and connected to the machine's power with a rugged cable harness. The power connection is installed to an ignition-switched power source.
