Do not crank the engine for more than 30 seconds. Allow the starter to cool for 2 minutes before cranking again.Turbocharger damage can result, if the engine is not kept at low idle until the engine oil light/gauge verifies the oil pressure is sufficient.The key must be in the RUN position with the engine on in order to maintain electrical functions, maintain hydraulic functions and prevent serious machine damage.If the engine does not start, return the key to the OFF position before you return the key to START.
Do not use ether starting fluid in diesel engines equipped with inlet manifold heater.
Illustration 1 g03179061Use the following procedure in order to start the engine.
Lift auxiliary shutdown knob (2).
Push down on the right side of parking brake switch (3) in order to apply the parking brake.
Move the propel control levers (1) to the NEUTRAL position.
Turn key (4) clockwise to the ON position in order to activate the glow plugs. Wait until the monitoring system indicates the machine is ready to start. Note: The glow plugs may not activate during higher ambient temperatures or higher engine temperatures.
Briefly sound the horn before you start the engine.
Turn key (4) clockwise to the START position. When the engine starts release the key.
