Neutralizer Settings
The transmission will be neutralized when the left brake pedal is depressed to the transmission neutralization setpoint. For the 980 K there are three neutralizer settings which allow configuration of the neutralizer portion of the IBS for application requirements. The settings are in level, moderate and aggressive slope operation. Adjust the neutralizer settings according to the machine site conditions.
Table 4
Neutralizer Settings
Increment Minimum Maximum
Level percent 0.5 0 99
Moderate percent 0.5 0.5 99.5
Aggressive percent 0.5 1 100 Level Operation Neutralization Offset Setpoint
The level neutralizer setting should be adjusted and used for situations where the machine is operating on level ground. The level setting cannot be set below the brake point (0.0%) or above or equal to the moderate slope setting.Moderate Slope Operation Neutralization Offset Setpoint
The moderate neutralizer setting should be adjusted and used for situations where the machine is operating on a moderate incline. The moderate slope setting cannot be set below or equal to the level setting. The moderate slope setting cannot be above or equal to the aggressive slope setting.Aggressive Slope Operation Neutralization Offset Setpoint
The aggressive neutralizer setting should be adjusted and used for situations where the machine is operating on a steep incline, for the site. The aggressive slope setting cannot be set below or equal to the moderate slope setting or above the maximum allowed setting. Brake Measurement
The Brake Measurement is used to help calculate the amount of wear for a given brake disc. Each individual service brake uses an indicator pin to help determine the amount of wear on an existing service brake disc. An indicator pin is located on each side of the front and rear axle center housings. The brake measurement information is recorded in the transmission Electronic Control Module (ECM).

966/972K 2.5 mm (0.1 inch) 0.00 mm (0.00 inch) 599.44 mm (23.6 inch) Record a new baseline value whenever a new brake disc is installed. After entering the new brake measurement values, enter the SMU when these new brakes were installed in the brake measurement hour meter reading. Record a new baseline value ONLY for the respective brakes that received a new brake disc. The baseline value should not be updated for brakes that did not receive a new brake disc. The following information is recorded:
Right front brake measurement.
Left front brake measurement
Left rear brake measurement.
Right rear brake measurement.
Brake measurement hour meter reading.Transmission Type
For the 980 K the machine may be built with a standard or a heavy-duty transmission. The heavy-duty transmission is also referred to as an extreme service transmission in some documentation. For the transmission type select "Heavy Duty" if the machine is built with the heavy-duty transmission. Check the product configuration for individual 966/972K machines to determine if the heavy-duty transmission is installed.Advanced Machine Security System Installation Status
The Machine Security System (MSS) protects from vandalism and theft by preventing unauthorized personnel from starting the machine. Machines start only after a unique Machine Security System (MSS) key is inserted into the ignition.
