Remove the vibration dampers. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Vibration Damper - Remove".
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Illustration 1 g01294394Note: It is not necessary to remove adapter (4) in order to remove the crankshaft front seal.
Remove bolts (2) that hold the crankshaft front seal and adapter (1) in place.
Install Tooling (A) in adapter (1). Tighten Tooling (A) evenly. Remove the crankshaft front seal and adapter (1) from the front housing.
Install Tooling (B) through the holes in adapter (4).
Remove bolts (3) that hold adapter (4) in place.
Slide adapter (4) onto Tooling (B). Attach a suitable lifting device to adapter (4). The weight of adapter (4) is approximately 70 kg (154 lb). Remove adapter (4) from Tooling (B).
