Track-Type MachinesA new assembly method for track link assemblies has been used in the factory since March 1988. The new assembly method controls the amount of end play in the link joint. This allows the link assembly to be freer and more flexible. The previous assembly method would cause the link assemblies to have stiff joints.
Advantages to the new track link assembly method are: First, it controls the amount of end play in the link joint. This prevents damage to the joint from thrust ring galling and breaking.Second, the track link assemblies will roll and unroll freely. This allows for easier assembly of the track shoes and adjustment of the track on the machine.
