The Caterpillar Bluetooth key fob
The Bluetooth key fob has the same key cut as the universal Caterpillar key. The key fob has an electronic chip that is embedded inside the head of the key.Machine Display (If Equipped)
The machine display provides the ability to enter a passcode. If a valid passcode is entered, the MSS will disarm.Some machines support managing the authorized key list through the display. Refer to the Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Normal Operation" section in this manual for further information on the managing operators.Caterpillar Bluetooth Transceiver (CATBTNT)
Illustration 2 g06087602The Caterpillar Bluetooth Transceiver (CATBTNT) is connected directly to battery power. The transceiver will be able to communicate with the Bluetooth key fobs or mobile application when the battery disconnect switch is in the connected state.When the engine start switch or key start switch is placed in the ON position, the CATBTNT will send the key ID data over CAN to the machine ECM.Note: The transceiver control can be flashed via the Cat ® Electronic Technician (Cat ET) Service Tool. Refer to Troubleshooting, "ECM - Flash" for the machine being serviced.Note: This device complies with Part 15 of the FCC Rules. Operation is subject to the following two conditions:

Engine start switch

(10) Engine start buttonThe engine start switch is used to start the machine engine. To turn on accessory mode, rotate the engine start ring (9) to the ON position. If the MSS is installed, a registered passcode, Bluetooth key fob, or mobile application ID is needed to enable the engine start button (10). The status indicator is integrated into the switch. When the switch indicates that the MSS is disarmed, the engine start button can be pressed in order to turn on the engine.Status Indicator
The state of the MSS is displayed by the status indicator. The green LED of the status indicator turns ON when the system is disarmed. The machine should start. The red LED of the status indicator turns ON when the system is armed. The machine should not start. After the MSS has been disarmed for 30 seconds, the green LED will turn OFF. The LED will remain OFF while the security system is disarmed.Note: The MSS status indicators may vary depending on the machine.
