Procedure to clean the fuel filter
Turn off the fuel supply to the engine.
Loosen the fuel line nut that holds the fuel inlet line to the fuel transfer pump and remove the inlet fuel line.
Loosen and remove the hexagonal fuel inlet connection at the inlet of the fuel transfer pump.
Remove the filter and the O-ring seal from the fuel inlet connection.
Clean the fuel filter with clean diesel fuel. Dry the fuel filter with low pressure compressed air. A 201-0878 Filter Kit is available for the new fuel transfer pump. The filter kit includes a new filter and a new O-ring seal.
Install the filter into the fuel inlet connection and install the new O-ring seal, if necessary.
Install the hexagonal fuel inlet connection into the fuel transfer pump. Tighten the hexagonal fuel inlet connection to a torque of 20 N m (15 lb ft).
Connect the fuel inlet line to the fuel transfer pump and tighten the fuel line nut.
Turn on the fuel supply and check the fuel system for leaks. Repair any leaks that are present and remove the air from the fuel system. Refer to the Systems Operation, Testing and Adjusting Module, "Fuel System - Prime" topic for additional information.
