PINION SET 1352365 - Caterpillar

The wheels, tires and rims were removed for photo purposes. 1. Drain the oil from the tandem drive housing. Remove inspection covers (1) and (2) from the top and both sides of the tandem drive housing. 2. Turn the wheels until master link (3) is at the inspection opening. 3. Remove cotter pins (4) from the master link. 4. Install tool (A) to pull the links together. Use a punch and hammer and push the master link out. Remove tool (A). Turn the wheels until drive chain (5) is free of the drive sprocket. Use two persons and remove drive chain (5) from the tandem drive housing. The weight is 60 lb. (27 kg).Install Drive Chains
1. Put drive chain (1) on top of the tandem drive housing as shown. Start the chain on the top of the wheel sprocket and turn the wheel to pull the drive chain on to the wheel sprocket. Engage the chain with the drive sprocket and turn the wheel until the ends of the drive chain are in alignment with the inspection opening. 2. Install tool (A) to pull the ends of the chain toward each other. 3. Put master link (2) through the chain. Put connector link (3) in place for the master link and use tool (B) to push the connector link on the master link. 4. Install cotter pins (4) that hold the connector link to the master link.5. Fill the tandem drive housing with oil. See LUBRICATION AND MAINTENANCE GUIDE. 6. Install gaskets (5) and covers (6) on each side of the tandem drive housing. 7. Install gaskets (8) and covers (7) on the top of the tandem drive housing.
