The code is logged.    
Follow the troubleshooting procedure in order to identify the root cause of the problem.    
Wait 2 minutes after the engine has stopped before turning the battery disconnect switch to the OFF position. The DEF system requires 2 minutes in order to purge diesel exhaust fluid (DEF) from system components automatically. Failing to complete the purge could damage the SCR system.

Troubleshooting Test Steps    Values    Results    
1. Review the "Aftertreatment Abnormal Shutdown History" in Cat® ET
A. Connect to the Engine #1 Aftertreatment Controller using Cat® ET.
B. Proceed to "Aftertreatment Abnormal Shutdown History". Select the "Information" tab, then select the "History" tab in the Cat® ET menu.
C. Review the engine shutdown type for cold shutdown occurrences.
D. If the "Aftertreatment Abnormal Shutdown History" shows that the system was not allowed the full 2 minutes to purge, inform the operator to wait 2 minutes after key-off before turning the battery disconnect to the OFF position.
   
DEF pump    
Result: The system was not allowed 2 minutes to purge before the battery disconnect was turned to the OFF position.
Inform the operator to wait 2 minutes after key-off before turning the battery disconnect to the OFF position.
Return the unit to service.
Result: The system was allowed 2 minutes to purge before the battery disconnect was turned to the OFF position.
Proceed to Test Step 2.

A. Connect to the Engine #1 Aftertreatment Controller using Cat® ET.
B. Check for associated diagnostic trouble codes.
   
Diagnostic trouble code    
Result: An associated diagnostic trouble code is present.
Troubleshoot the associated code.
   Complete the procedure in the order in which the steps are listed.
