Reports have been received from the field of adapter bearing (1) in the blower fan group failing prematurely. Indicators of bearing failure are high bearing surface temperatures, or grease leakage from the lower sealing surface. The cause of the problem is currently under investigation.Solution
The situation can be contained with proper inspection and monitoring for grease leaks, and monitoring for high bearing temperatures. The inspection and monitoring should be part of the machine walk around prior to startup, and the 250 service hour maintenance schedule.

Install four 8T-2821 Temperature Indicators on the adapter bearing. Install two temperature indicators on the upper section of the adapter bearing 180 degrees apart. Install two temperature indicators on the bottom section of the adapter bearing 180 degrees apart.

If the temperature indicators show that the adapter bearing has reached a temperature greater than 93° C (200° F) or if grease leakage is identified, replace the adapter bearing with a new like part. Also install four new temperature indicators on the new adapter bearing.If the adapter bearing is replaced, notify the dealer solution network "DSN", Attention: Griffin Reome as soon as possible.
