Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: The water pump seal can be replaced while the water pump is mounted on the engine. Use the following procedure in order to replace the water pump seal.
Drain the coolant. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Cooling System Coolant (ELC) - Change" for the correct draining and filling procedures.

Remove bolts (2), bolts (3), and elbow (1).
Remove bolts (4), bolts (5), and tube (6).

Remove the bolts that hold housing (9) in position. Remove the housing.
Remove O-ring seal (10) from the housing.
Loosen bolt (12) that holds impeller (11) in position. Do not remove the bolt.
Use a block and Tooling (A) in order to put tension on the impeller. Tap the center of the block in order to loosen impeller (11) on the shaft.
Remove bolt (12), washer (13), and impeller (11) from shaft (14).
Remove spring (15), carbon seal (16), and ceramic seal (17) from the water pump.
