Rework Procedure
Rework Instructions for the Brake Disc. on 906H, 906H2, 907H, 907H2, 908H, and 908H2 Compact Wheel Loaders.
Refer to the Service Manual if/as necessary.
Before beginning any repairs park the machine in a safe working area on level ground. Refer to the OMM for additional safety requirements before making any repairs.
Reference Service Literature KENR5211-02 for both high speed and low speed axles
The front axle mounting bolts will have to be loosened on the 907 and 908 to allow the axle to be lowered so the brake disc will have clearance to slide off the pinion shaft. See Image 1.1.1
Remove the brake caliper assembly
Remove the drive shaft
Remove the 292-5387 Brake Disc and 211-1316 Mounting Bracket. These parts will not be reused, keep the bracket positioning dowel for further reuse.
Clean the splines on the pinion shaft and clean the axle housing where the old brake housing mounted.
Refer to Image 1.1.2 and Image 1.1.3 for Item identification.
Item 1, 445-9245, new brake disc and mounting kit
a) Install the new mounting bracket, (4) in the same orientation as the old mounting bracket and torque the bolts, (5) to 50Nm.
b) Assemble the components (2), (7) and (8) and the 2 mm thickness shim (suggested starting point) to identify the correct shim,(3) in the kit to limit the axial free play of the new disc to 0.25 mm. DO NOT install the seal, (6) at this time.
c) Disassembly the items in the above paragraph and reassembly with the correct shim thickness. Verify the free play does not exceed 0.25 mm.
d) Disassembly the items once again.
- Install the seal, (6) into the brake bracket, (4). Apply Loctite 510 to the axle housing where the new brake bracket, (4) will be mounted.
- Reassemble the original positioning dowel pin into the bracket, (4) with the spacer, (2) and the correct shims, (3) and torque the bolts , (5) to 50 Nm.
- Apply Loctite 648 to the spline.
- Before installing the brake disc lubricate the seal's ID with a light film of axle or hydraulic oil. Do not use grease or any other lubrication. Gently slide the brake disc inside the seal's internal diameter until the final position, paying attention not to damage the cassette seal. Install the retaining ring, (8).
- Verify the free play does not exceed the 0.25 mm before installing the end cap, (9).
e) Reinstall the brake to the new bracket with new parking brake pads. (151-2628 Brake Pads for the low speed axle and 227-3652 Friction Pad Kit for the high speed axle) Properly set the running clearance.
f) Reinstall the driveshaft using new 107-6826 Bolts.
g) Follow instruction KENR5209-03 to test and adjust the brakes for
