Working With The Compactor
Refer to the general Instructions for moving the compactor.
Compaction
Select 1st speed using the speed range switch (6). If 2nd speed range is selected, a device will automatically prevent the vibratory system from operating.Select direction of travel by moving the TRAVEL CONTROL lever (4) in the desired direction. When the machine begins to move, start the vibration by depressing the switch (5). Before stopping the travel motion turn vibration OFF.
Never leave the vibration control ON when passing over concrete or hard pavement.
Begin the first passes along the sides of the work, subsequent passes gradually working towards the centre overlapping the previous pass by approximately 20 cm to eliminate any chance of uncompacted strips.Compaction should be carried out without any interruption, the travel speed should not be changed, it should remain constant throughout the length of the pass.Select the correct travel speed (approximately 3 to 4 km/h). Drive in a straight line.Progressively start, stop and reverse direction.Don't brutely brake the machine, let it come to a gradual stop.Only change of strip when it is completely compacted.Don't turn around or change direction on an uncompacted strip.Ensure the drums are clean, and free of any pickup.Ensure that the drum scrapers are correctly adjusted. Check that the water spray tank is full, check that the system works correctly.Respect the number of vibratory passes as given in the specifications, do not over compact as this will cause cracking and possible segregation of the material. If rolling the finished surface with the same machine but on static, roll the material before there is any noticable temperature drop, so that the surface will smooth out and become free from ridges and undulations and will be finished to a true camber.
Always use clean water in the spray system and fill the tank through the filter screen provided in the filter neck. Clogged openings in the spray bar will prevent even water distribution and
