The article "New Fill Procedure For Pivot Shaft Bearings; Correct Oil Levels In Track Roller Frame", tells about a new fill procedure that uses oil while it is under pressure.The inspection service interval for the oil level for the track roller frame pivot bearings has now been changed to every 50 service hours or weekly. Formerly, the inspection service interval was every 500 service hours or 3 months.
The oil level for the pivot bearings must be kept at the bottom of the threads in the hole at the top of the roller frame. It is important that the level be checked in both track roller frames.
If it is necessary to add oil, check the oil level for several days to make sure it stays at the full level. If the oil does not stay at the full level, check for oil leakage at the seals. Replacement of a damaged seal must be made immediately to prevent high cost damage to the pivot shaft bearing bores.
Remember, that after a large volume of oil has been added, it can take several days for the oil level to stabilize. This is because of air that is held in the system.
