Drawbar Height Adjustment
The drawbar can be installed in either low (5) or high (6) position by inverting the drawbar and clevis. The clevis must be unbolted and moved to the top surface of the drawbar when changing between high and low drawbar positions. The clevis bolts must be retightened to a torque of 530 N m (390 lb ft) when reinstalled. The high drawbar position should not be used with PTO operation.
The drawbar could swing unexpectedly if it is not properly restrained when transporting equipment. Possible unstable operation of the towed implement could cause an accident and result in personal injury.Always install the drawbar swing stop bolts to prevent drawbar swing when transporting equipment.
Drawbar Length Adjustment
Three holes are provided at the front of the drawbar for adjusting length. The front drawbar pin can be inserted into any of the three holes to vary the PTO shaft to hitch point distance.Always use the close-coupled position 1 for equipment exerting high downward forces, such as single axle trailers, etc. Use position three when operating 1000 rpm PTO-driven equipment.The maximum static downward loads for each drawbar length are as follows: To change the drawbar length, remove two bolts (4) that retain front pin (5). Adjust the drawbar length as required and reinstall pin and bolts. Tighten the bolts to 60 N m (45 lb ft).Safety Chain
When towing implements (6) on the highway, use safety chain (7) with tensile strength equal to or greater than the gross weight of the implement to be towed by the tractor. This will control the implement in the event drawbar (8) and implement become disconnected.To attach the safety chain to the tractor, run the chain through chain guide (9) and around the lower plate of the drawbar support. After attaching the safety chain, make a trial run by driving the tractor to the right and left for a short distance to check the safety chain adjustment. If necessary, readjust the chain to eliminate a tight or overly loose situation.Check the implement operator's manual for implement weight and attaching hardware specifications. Wide-Swinging Drawbar
Tractors not equipped with a three-point hitch can be equipped with a special heavy duty drawbar arrangement that has extended swing travel. In addition, the heavy duty drawbar arrangement features energy-absorbing swing stop bumpers. The drawbar, clevis, and hitch pin are the same as on tractors equipped with standard drawbar arrangements. Drawbar length adjustment and safety chain usage are also the same as the standard drawbar arrangement.Drawbar Support Adjustments
Drawbar support (1) provides multiple drawbar stop locations for constraining the drawbar in different fixed positions or for adjusting the range of swing travel.To constrain the drawbar in a fixed location, such as for transporting equipment or pulling a trailer, place swing stop (2) over drawbar and insert it into holes in the drawbar support. Retain the swing stop by inserting pin (3). Secure
