Removal Procedure

Remove fuses (1) from the interface box.
Disconnect the batteries.

Note: Before disconnecting the harness assemblies, mark the items for the proper connections in order to ensure correct assembly.
Disconnect the harness assemblies from solenoid (2) and electric starting motor (3) .If the engine has two electric starting motors, disconnect the harness assemblies between the solenoids and electric starting motors.
Attach a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (3). The weight of electric starting motor (3) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).
Remove bolts (4). Remove electric starting motor (3). Remove the gasket from the joint between electric starting motor (3) and the flywheel housing.Installation Procedure
Inspect the gasket for the joint between the electric starting motor and the flywheel housing. Obtain a new gasket, if necessary.

Attach a suitable lifting device to electric starting motor (3). The weight of electric starting motor (3) is approximately 30 kg (66 lb).
Place the gasket in the cover for electric starting motor (3). Lift electric starting motor (3) onto the mounting position. Install bolts (4) .
Connect the harness assemblies to solenoid (2) and electric starting motor (3) .If the engine has two electric starting motors, connect the harness assemblies between the solenoids and electric starting motors.
Connect the batteries.
