1. Remove bolt and washer (2), then remove treadle (1).
988B ONLY2. Remove four bolts, nuts, lockwashers and eight washers (3). Lower cover (4) from governor linkage housing under operator's station. This is for the 988B only. 3. Remove bolt and nut (6) from cable housing (7). Turn the cable housing to remove it from linkage housing (5). Slide the cable housing back on the cable and disconnect the cable from the linkage housing. 4. Loosen nut (8) and remove coupler (9) from cable. Remove nut (8) and cable housing (7). 5. Remove seal (10) from the cable housing. 6. Remove four bolts and lockwashers (11) from inside the cab. Housing can fall to the floor when the bolts are removed. 7. Remove linkage housing (5) and gasket from under the operator's station.Install Governor Pedal Group
1. Install gasket (1) and linkage housing (2) in machine as shown. Install four bolts and washers from inside the cab. 2. Install the seal in cable housing (3) with tooling (A). Install the seal with the lip of the seal toward the inside of the housing. Install seal until it is even with the face of the housing. 3. Install cable housing (3) on the cable, then install nut (4) and coupler to the cable. 4. Connect coupler (5) to plunger (6). Make sure the lever stop is adjusted to .28 in. (7.11 mm) (dimension B) before the connection is made. See Disassemble and Assemble Governor Pedal Group for the adjustment.5. Install cable housing (3) in the linkage housing. If the hole in the cable housing is not in alignment with the groove in the cable, then remove the cable housing and adjust the coupler on the cable. Tighten the nut on the cable and again connect the coupler to the plunger and install the cable housing.
988B ONLY6. Install bolts (7) through cable housing (3). The bolt must go through the groove in the cable. Install the nut to the bolt and tighten it.7. Lift the cover over the governor linkage housing under the operator's station. Install four nuts, bolts, lockwashers and eight washers. This is for the 988B only. 8. Install treadle (8) on splined shaft (9). Install the treadle so it makes an angle of 40° 4° (dimension A) with the floor. Install bolt and washer (10) in the end of shaft (9) and tighten it.Disassemble Governor Pedal Group
start by:a) remove governor pedal group 1. Remove cover (2) from linkage housing (1). 2. Remove spring (8) and three rings and pins (6). Remove plunger (5) and link (7). Remove ring and two washers (4), then remove lever (3). 3. Remove bearing (9) from the lever. 4. Remove roll pin (10) and remove link (11) from the plunger. 5. Remove O-ring seal (12) from body (13). Remove the body from the housing and remove another seal from the body. 6. Remove plug (14) from the housing. Remove ring and washer (15) from the shaft. 7. Remove the bolt from lever (18)
