151-4836 Differential Group and 148-9288 Differential Case Assembly(1) 8R-8338 Differential Case Half.(2) 148-7383 Thrust Washer.(3) 127-1960 Screws.(4) 8R-8337 Differential Case Half.Adaptable To: The new 151-4836 Differential Group replaced the former 9C-8184 Differential Group (discontinued). This change replaced the former 127-9095 Thrust Washer (not canceled), which was held by two 127-1960 Screws, with 148-7383 Thrust Washer (2), held by four 127-1960 Screws (3). The new 151-4836 Differential Group is effective with 814F (9DM139-Up) Wheel Tractors, 815F (1GN439-Up) Soil Compactors, 816F (5FN342-Up) Landfill Compactors, 966F Series II (8BG3467-Up, 9YJ4246-Up, 1SL2810-Up) and 970F (7SK933-Up, 9JK776-Up, 7PL286-Up) Wheel Loaders. This change is adaptable to first production for the machines listed by replacing the existing, damaged differential case assembly with a new 148-9288 Differential Case Assembly. If the existing case assembly is not damaged, the case may be reworked by following the rework procedure below.108-2836 Differential Case Assembly Rework Procedure

8R-8338 Differential Case(5) Existing dowels.(7) New threaded holes.2. Position four new threaded holes (6) on each differential case away from dowels (5) that were ground in Step 1. Use 148-7383 Thrust Washer (2) as a template for these holes.3. Drill the holes to a diameter of 5.2 mm (.20 in) and to a depth of 20.0 mm (.79 in). Counterbore the holes to a diameter of 9.5 0.5 mm (.37 .020 in) and to a depth of 4.8 0.5 mm (.19 .02 in). Tap each hole: M6 X 1-6H to a depth of 15.0 mm (.59 in).4. Clean all contact surfaces with a solvent cleaner.5. Apply a thin layer of 4C-9506 or 4C-9507 Retaining Compound to the face of both differential cases where the thrust washer will contact. 4C-9506 Retaining Compound is a 10 ml (.33 oz.) container of retaining compound. 4C-9507 is a 50 ml (1.67 oz.) container of retaining compound.6. Install the thrust washer with the flat surface against the case.7. Apply a sufficient amount of 4C-9506 or 4C-9507 Retaining Compound to each screw in order to lock the threads and bond the screw head to the washer.8. Torque each screw to 12 3 N m (8.8 2.2 lb ft). Note: Do not over tighten the screws.CF69. Clean off excess retaining compound.127-9096 Differential Case Assembly Rework Procedure
The two threaded holes in both 8R-8337 Differential Case (4) and 8R-8338 Differential Case (1) may be used by adding two additional holes to each case. If the existing holes are damaged, position the four new threaded holes away from the existing holes.
