Remove filler cap (1).
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, NENG2500, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Determine whether your application has a drain plug or a drain valve.
If your application has a drain plug, place a suitable container under plug (2). Remove the plug. After the oil has drained, clean the plug. Install the plug.
If your application has a drain valve, install a suitable hose over the connector. Place a suitable container under the other end of the hose. Open the drain valve. After the oil has drained, close the valve. Note: For the proper oil to use, refer to this Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Refill Capacities and Recommendations" topic (Maintenance Section).
Pour the proper oil into the oil filler. Clean the oil filler cap. Install the oil filler cap.
Clean up any oil that may have spilled.
