Loosen the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Separate".
Care must be taken to ensure that fluids are contained during performance of inspection, maintenance, testing, adjusting, and repair of the product. Be prepared to collect the fluid with suitable containers before opening any compartment or disassembling any component containing fluids.Refer to Special Publication, PERJ1017, "Dealer Service Tool Catalog" for tools and supplies suitable to collect and contain fluids on Cat® products.Dispose of all fluids according to local regulations and mandates.
Personal injury can result from grease under high pressure.The adjuster cylinder for the track is under high hydraulic pressure. Grease under high pressure can cause injury.Do not visually inspect the adjuster cylinder to see if grease is released when the valve is opened. Look to see that the track has loosened.

Attach Tooling (A) in order to hold the major bogies in position.
Lift the tractor in order to remove the track roller. Use suitable jack stands to support the tractor.
Use a chain, a suitable lifting device and Tooling (B) to support track roller (3) during the removal procedure.
Remove bolts (2) and cap (1). The bolts and caps hold the track roller to the minor bogie. Repeat this Step for the bolts and the cap on the other side of the track roller.
Remove track roller (3) from the minor bogie with Tooling (B). The weight of the track roller is approximately 97 kg (214 lb).
Disassemble the track rollers and assemble the track rollers. Refer to Undercarriage Reconditioning Guide, SEBF8599, "Disassembly and Assembly Procedure for Track Rollers". Installation Procedure

Use Tooling (B), a chain, and a suitable lifting device in order to position track roller (3) on the minor bogie. The weight of the track roller is approximately 97 kg (214 lb). Note: Tighten the thicker end of the cap first.
Align the pin in caps (1) with the hole in the track roller shaft. Install caps (1) and bolts (2). Tighten bolts (2) to a torque of 750 70 N m (553 52 lb ft).
Remove the suitable jack stands and lower the machine to the ground. Remove Tooling (A). End By:
Tighten the track. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Track - Connect".
