G3500 Family AllDescription of Change: Several improvements in design were carried out in order to improve the sealing capability in the following components: alternator drive assemblies, auxiliary drive pulley groups and accessory drive groups. These components are located on the front housing of 3500 and 3500B Engines.A new seal with a triple lip was developed in order to improve sealing capability. The new seal also assists in preventing dirt from entering the system. A new seal was added in order to improve sealing capability in the accessory drive.An adapter that is used with pulley groups and accessory drive groups has been changed. The oil drain holes have been repositioned to horizontal locations instead of vertical locations in order to provide more lubrication to the seals.The accessory drive gear has been modified in order to improve seal life by reducing the amount of runout of the gear to the pulley. The modification changes the hole tolerance from 0.5 mm (0.0197 inch) to 0.05 mm (0.0020 inch).Adaptable To: The 235-2484 Lip Seal is a direct replacement for the following seals: 189-5178 Lip Seal, 6V-7196 Lip Seal and 9X-4612 Lip Seal .The 238-8363 Seal can be used with all 112-6035 Accessory Drive Gp .The improved 7C-4165 Adapter As contains the newly designed 7C-0234 Adapter .The modified 107-0466 Accessory Drive Gear is a direct replacement within the 171-8947 Accessory Drive Gp and the 107-7361 Accessory Drive Gp.
