Note: Cleanliness is an important factor. Before the removal procedure, the exterior of the component should be thoroughly cleaned. This will help to prevent dirt from entering the internal mechanism.
Personal injury or death can result from improper lifting or blocking.When a hoist or jack is used to lift any part or component, stand clear of the area. Be sure the hoist or jack has the correct capacity to lift a component. Install blocks or stands before performance of any work under a heavy component.Approximate weights of the components are shown. Clean all surfaces where parts are to be installed.
Park the machine on a level surface. Partially extend the ejector cylinder. Install the steering frame locks. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Steering Frame Lock".
Lower the tailgate. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Lowering the Tailgate with Engine Stopped".

Start the engine. Extend the ejector cylinder until the ejector blade is halfway up the ejector body. Allow sufficient space for the placement of Tooling (A). Refer to Step 8. Stop the engine and turn the disconnect switch to the OFF position.

Loosen nuts (2) on both sides of the ejector blade. Turn bolts (1) on both sides of the ejector blade in order to raise the floor rollers off the floor of the truck body. Note: Raising the floor rollers prevents movement of the ejector blade during the removal and installation of the ejector cylinder.

Disconnect hose assemblies (3). Remove bolts (4). Remove covers (5) from both sides of the ejector blade.

Attach a suitable lifting device to ejector cylinder (6).
Remove bolts (7) and bearing caps (8) that retain ejector cylinder (6) to gimbal assembly (9).

Use a suitable lifting device in order to support ejector cylinder (6). Start the engine and slowly retract ejector cylinder (6). When the ejector cylinder is fully retracted, install Tooling (A). The weight of ejector cylinder (6) is approximately 318 kg (701 lb).

Install Tooling (B), Tooling (C) and a suitable lifting device onto carriage (10).

Raise ejector blade (11) until the floor rollers at the front of the ejector blade are approximately 20.0 mm (0.78 inch) clear of the ejector body. It may be necessary to adjust the rollers (pitch) in order to achieve the correct clearance. Refer to Operation and Maintenance Manual, "Ejector Blade Alignment - Check/Adjust". The weight of ejector blade (11) is approximately 1738 kg (3832 lb).
Adjust Tooling (C) in order to raise the rear of the carriage.

Remove bolts (12) and plates (13) from both sides of the ejector body.
