Which Generate This Code:The CID 3690 diagnostic code is associated with the left tilt cylinder retract solenoid. The FMI 13 diagnostic code is active when the Implement ECM determines that the left blade tilt solenoid requires calibration. This diagnostic code will disappear once the calibration procedure has been performed successfully. This diagnostic code is active on a new ECM.Ensure that the CID 3690 FMI 13 diagnostic code is active before performing this procedure.Possible causes of this diagnostic code are listed below:
The ECM has been replaced or new software has been installed.
The calibration procedure has failed.
The ECM has generated this code in error.System Response:The deadband in the control lever may be excessive. The operation of the control lever may be jerky.Note: If other diagnostic codes are active, troubleshoot those codes first. Then perform this procedure.Ensure that you have repaired any condition that would cause other active diagnostic codes that are related to this solenoid. Observe the status of the CID 3690 FMI 13 diagnostic code.Expected Result:The CID 3690 FMI 13 diagnostic code is not active.Results:
OK - The CID 3690 FMI 13 diagnostic code is not active. The calibration corrected the condition that caused the diagnostic code. The calibration procedure was performed successfully.Repair: Resume normal machine operation.STOP
NOT OK - The CID 3690 FMI 13 diagnostic code is active. The calibration procedure was not performed successfully.Repair: Verify that the correct Implement ECM is installed on the machine. Verify that the correct software has been flashed into the ECM. Then repeat the calibration.If the diagnostic code is still active and the cause is not found, the ECM may have generated this diagnostic code in error.Exit this procedure and perform this procedure again. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, you may need to replace the ECM. Prior to replacing an ECM, contact the Technical Communicator at your dealership for a possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may greatly reduce repair time.
