Failures of the 172-8660 Liquid Level Switch (ENGINE OIL, LOW) have been reported. The switch has malfunctioned, resulting in false low oil level events.Solution
Use the following procedure to remove the low engine oil level switch and install an oil level sensor.Required Parts
Note: The original 0S-0509 Bolts and 5M-2894 Hard Washers can be reused in this procedure.

Disconnect the oil level switch from the engine harness.
Remove the 0S-0509 Bolts , the 5M-2894 Hard Washers , and the 217-7046 Guard As .
Remove the oil level switch.
Lubricate the bore for the 6V-4589 O-Ring Seal with clean engine oil. Install the seal onto the new 330-9321 Liquid Level Sensor Gp and install the sensor.Torque for the sensor ... 25 1 N m (18 1 lb ft)

Install guard (7) over the sensor. Use two bolts (5) and washers (6). Use the upper bolt and washer to install clip (4) and secure the sensor harness to the clip.
Attach the engine harness connector for the oil level switch (1) to harness (2) .
Attach connector (3) to harness (2) .

Unplug connector (8) from connector (9). Plug connector (8) into harness (2). Note: The connection from the oil level sensor is already plugged into a portion of Y connector (10) .
Plug engine harness connector (9) into the open portion on Y connector (10) of harness (2) .
Route the new harness along the existing harness and secure with the 9X-6772 Cable Straps .
