Remove all 354-1560 oil filters from dealer parts stock.
****Affected Product****
1. Connect a hose to the drain valve (3). Place the other end of the hose into a suitable container in order to collect the oil.
Drain the oil into a suitable container. Dispose of the oil according to local regulations.
2. Open the drain valve (3). Allow the oil to drain. Clean the plug and install the plug. Close the drain valve. Remove the hose from the drain.
Some oil will remain in the housing after the oil has been drained. This oil will pour out of the housing when the cover (2) is removed. Prepare to catch the oil in a suitable container. Clean up any spilled oil with rags. DO NOT use absorbent particles to clean up the oil.
3. Gradually loosen but do not remove the bolts (1) holding the cover (2). (Caution: be alert to the spring force). Before completely removing the bolts (1), pry the cover (2) loose in order to relieve any spring pressure. Fully remove the bolts (1), the cover (2) and the filter tray. Remove the O-ring seal on the inside of the cover.
4. Clean the cover (2) and clean the O-ring seal. Clean the inside of the oil filter housing.
5. Install the new 368-0066 Oil Filter Elements.
6. Inspect the O-ring seal. Ensure that the surfaces for the O-ring seal are clean. Install a new O-ring seal if the old O-ring seal is damaged or deteriorated.
7. Install the cover (2) and bolts (1). Ensure that the springs are seated properly between the cover and the oil filter elements.

Dear Caterpillar Product Owner:
The engine oil filter needs to be replaced on certain C175 Generator Sets. The existing oil filter can restrict oil flow in cold ambients and subsequently trigger a low oil pressure alarm. Repeated exposure to low oil pressure on cold start up can result in a engine failure. You will not be charged for the service performed.
Contact your local Caterpillar dealer immediately to schedule this service. The dealer will advise you of the time required to complete this service.
Please refer the dealer to their Service Letter dated 20Apr2012 when scheduling this service.
