Removal Procedure
Start By:
Remove the turbocharger.
Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.

Loosen bolts (3) in the reverse numerical order to the sequence that is shown in Illustration 2.Note: Loosening bolts (3) in reverse numerical order will help prevent distortion of exhaust manifold (4).
Remove bolts (3), spacers (2), and exhaust manifold (4).
Remove gaskets (1).
If necessary, remove the studs from the exhaust manifold.Installation Procedure

A - Guide Stud 4 Note: If a bolt of the exhaust manifold has become loose, or a bolt for the exhaust manifold must be loosened, all the bolts for the exhaust manifold must be loosened. The bolts for the exhaust manifold must be tightened in the correct sequence and to the correct torque.

If necessary, install the studs into the exhaust manifold.
Install Tooling (A) into the cylinder head in holes (X).
Position gaskets (1) onto Tooling (A) in the cylinder head.
If the air port in the cylinder head is covered by the gasket, use the following procedure.
Remove gaskets (1) from the cylinder head.
Turn gaskets (1) through 180 degrees.
Reinstall gaskets (1) onto Tooling (A) in the cylinder head.
Position exhaust manifold (4) onto Tooling (A).
Install eight spacers (2) and eight bolts (3) to secure exhaust manifold (4) to the cylinder head.
Remove Tooling (A). Install remaining spacers (2) and bolts (3) to exhaust manifold (4).
Tighten bolts (3) to a torque of 44 N.m (32 lb ft) in the sequence as shown in the Illustration 4.End By:
Install the turbocharger.
