Illustration 2 g06061492The tube assembly (A) on some buckets may be oriented so that the retaining pin (B) contacts the bucket hinge plate torque tube when trying to remove the pin. Refer to Illustration 1 and Illustration 2.Follow the below rework steps to replace the former tube with new tube.Note: Only the power link side tube assembly should be replaced, not the stick arm side tube assembly.

Remove bucket from the excavator. Keep the bucket on the flat surface.
Remove existing tube (A) with gas welding torch. Refer to Illustration 3 and Illustration 4.

Grind and smooth the gouged surfaces. Refer to Illustration 5and Illustration 6.No problem of plate flatness after tube removal as shown in Illustration 7.

Draw a line that is parallel to the torque tube through the center of the bore. Mark the location of the new tube assembly hole orientation with a punch as shown in Illustration 8.

Remove paint from new tube (1).
Install bucket pin and C-ring pin tentatively to locate new tube in correct position.
Spot weld tube (1) to fix tube location.

Tube weld for 312 linkage buckets
(W1) 8.0 mm (0.31 inch) all around fillet weld with 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) square weld

Tube weld for 320 B linkage buckets
(W1) 8.0 mm (0.31 inch) all around fillet weld with 1.5 mm (0.06 inch) square weld

Weld new tube (1) on bucket as per dimensions shown in Illustration 10 and Illustration 11. Refer to Special Instruction, REHS1841, "General Welding Procedures" for proper welding procedure.

Paint the reworked area.
Install bucket on machine.
