This diagnostic code is associated with the Right Joystick Forward Reverse Position Sensor. The FMI 13 diagnostic code is recorded when the ECM detects that a sensor needs calibration.The sensor is a PWM sensor that operates at a frequency of approximately 500 100 Hz. The sensor sends a PWM input signal to the ECM. The duty cycle of the signal will vary from 7.5% to 92.5%.System Response:

OK - The calibration procedure was performed successfully. Resume normal machine operationSTOP
NOT OK - The calibration was not successful.Repair: Repeat the calibration procedure for the sensor.If the second calibration procedure is not successful, replace the "right joystick forward reverse" position sensor.After replacement of the sensor, the new parameters of the position sensor MUST be entered in Cat® Electronic Technician (Cat®) before the machine can be operated.After sensor replacement, refer to the Testing and Adjusting, "Calibration" Story in this manual for the correct procedure. If the problem is still present after replacement and calibration of the new sensor, the ECM may have failed.Prior to replacing an ECM, always contact the Technical Communicator at your dealership for possible consultation with Caterpillar. This consultation may effect repair time. If the cause of the diagnostic code is not found, replace the ECM.
