Keep all parts clean from contaminants.Contaminants may cause rapid wear and shortened component life.
Note: Check the condition of the O-ring seals. If the O-ring seals are worn or damaged, use new parts for replacement.

Install bearings (3) in body (1) with tool (A) and a hydraulic press.

Put bearings (3) in position on the inside of the pump body. Make sure that the chamfer on the bearing faces toward the outside of the pump body. The bearing joints on the bearings should be oriented in the pump body at a specific angle. This is shown in illustration 2.
Install shaft (2) into the body assembly. The shaft protrudes from the face of the body 30.50 0.25 (1.2 .010) when the body is fully installed.

Install the bearings in cover assembly (6) with Tool (A) and a hydraulic press.
Put bearings (5) in position on the inside of cover assembly (6) . Make sure that the chamfer on the bearings faces toward the outside of the cover assembly.

The bearing joints should be oriented at a specific angle. This is shown in illustration 4. Press the bearings into the cover. Press until the bearings are even with the outside of the cover assembly.
Inspect O-ring seal (4) in assembly (6) . If necessary, replace the O-ring.
Before final assembly, check the condition and specifications for all of the parts of the oil pump. Refer to Specifications, "Engine Oil Pump" .
Lightly oil all of the pump parts with engine oil prior to assembly.

Inspect pressure relief valve (8) . If the pressure relief valve is faulty, replace the pressure relief valve. Install pressure relief valve (8) into the body of engine oil pump (1) and install bolt (7) .

Install the two shaft assemblies (9) and (10) in the body of engine oil pump (1) .

Use three bolts and washers (11) to fasten cover assembly (12) to the body of engine oil pump (1) .

Use a hydraulic press to install the drive gear (13) onto the shaft.
Install bolt (14) and fasten drive gear (13) to the shaft.

Use Tool (A) to install bearing (15) into idler gear (16) . Press the bearing in the gear. Stop when the bearing is flush with the outside surface of the gear.

Install idler gear (16) onto the shaft of the pump.
The engine oil pump must turn freely by hand after it is assembled.
End By: Install the engine oil pump. Refer to Disassembly and Assembly, "Engine Oil Pump - Install".
