Introduction
The problem that is identified below does not have a known permanent solution. Until a permanent solution is known, use the solution that is identified below.Problem

EMCP 3.1 panel
Illustration 2 g02121073
EMCP 3.2 panelThe potentiometers that are used to adjust voltage on the generator sets that are listed above are incorrectly wired. An incorrectly wired potentiometer results in an output voltage that is adjusted in the opposite manner to the direction that is displayed on the film. For example, if the potentiometer is turned clockwise, the voltage decreases instead of increases.Solution
When servicing or repairing electric power generation equipment:Make sure the unit is off-line (disconnected from utility and/or other generators power service), and either locked out or tagged DO NOT OPERATE. Remove all fuses.
Procedure To Adjust The Potentiometers
Isolate the genset before you start any work on the unit.
Open the breaker for the genset.
Activate the emergency stop.
Disconnect the auxiliary power supply from the battery charger and the heaters.
Disconnect the battery cables.
Ensure that the proper lockout and tagging procedures are followed at all times while work is performed on the unit.

(2) VT1 wire (3) VT2 wire
The VT1 wire (2) and the VT2 wire (3) are connected to a series of spade-type connectors that are located on the bottom left side of the AVR. Refer to Illustration 4. Disconnect the VT1 wire (2) and the VT2 wire (3) .

(2) VT1 wire (3) VT2 wire
Connect the VT1 wire (2) and the VT2 wire (3) in the opposite location. Refer to Illustration 5 for the proper connection.

(1) Bolts
Connect the access panel by using the bolts (1) that were removed in a previous step.
Connect the auxiliary supplies and the battery cables that were disconnected in the beginning of this procedure.
Run the genset in order to ensure that the adjustment of the potentiometer correctly changes the voltage.
